You notice it in September light, not August. The tan fades, and what’s left underneath shows more than it did back in June, pigmentation you didn’t have last year, rougher texture under foundation, a jawline photographing softer than it used to. Summer rarely does the damage. It uncovers what was already there, and the reveal happens once the tan goes.

Most KIREI patients start treatment in autumn rather than waiting for a New Year reset. The stronger treatments on this list require careful sun avoidance afterwards, and autumn creates that window naturally. Results from collagen-stimulating treatments often build over eight to twelve weeks, so planning ahead matters if you have Christmas events, photographs or another important date in mind.

What follows is a guide to treatments we may recommend after consultation. Availability varies by clinic and clinician: Leeds offers the full treatment range, while Beverley provides injectable and regenerative treatments by appointment only.

What Is the Best Treatment for Sun Damage and Pigmentation After Summer?

PICO laser for sun spots and pigmentation

Picosecond laser uses ultra-short pulses to target pigment while limiting heat in the surrounding skin. It can treat sun spots, melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation, with suitability assessed for each skin type. Treatment is available at our Leeds clinic. If pigmentation is your main concern, read our guide to pigmentation and sun damage.

CO2 laser resurfacing for deeper texture and scarring

CO2 laser resurfacing is used for concerns including acne scarring, deeper lines, texture and sun damage. It is ablative, creating a controlled wound-healing response that stimulates collagen, with around five to seven days of visible recovery. Autumn can make sun avoidance easier while the skin heals. Treatment is available in Leeds only and consultation is required before booking.

What Treatment Helps With Facial Laxity Without Surgery?

HIFU for lifting and tightening

HIFU skin tightening uses focused ultrasound energy to reach deeper tissue layers and stimulate collagen without surgery. Results develop gradually over the following months. Treatment is available at our Leeds clinic. Dr Mei, Dr Rosie and Louise provide HIFU according to booking availability.

What Is the Difference Between RF Microneedling and Standard Microneedling?

Standard microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries, prompting the skin to produce more collagen. It is a sensible entry point and can be paired with regenerative treatments such as PRP or polynucleotides. Standard microneedling is available in Leeds and Beverley.

RF microneedling combines precision needles with radiofrequency energy delivered at depth, producing both mechanical and thermal stimulation. It can suit established scarring, uneven texture or early loss of firmness and is available at the Leeds clinic.

If your main concern is dullness or overall skin quality rather than a specific scar or line, standard microneedling with a regenerative treatment may be considered. The right combination depends on your skin, medical history and treatment goals, so it is confirmed at consultation rather than selected from a fixed menu.

What Else Is Available at KIREI This Autumn?

IPL is available at the Leeds clinic for selected pigmentation and redness concerns. The most appropriate option depends on skin type, the pattern of pigmentation and the treatment goal, so PICO, IPL and other options are compared during consultation.

How Soon Before an Important Event Should You Start?

Allow enough time for both recovery and results to develop. CO2 laser requires visible healing time, while HIFU and RF microneedling can take two to three months to show their full effect. If you have an important event, bring the date to your consultation so your clinician can work backwards and advise whether the timing is realistic.

Do Treatments Combine Well?

Often, yes. Patients may pair microneedling with PRP or polynucleotides, or use PICO for pigment and HIFU for laxity within a staged plan. We do not recommend combining treatments without assessing your skin first, because skin type, existing damage, recovery time and your wider treatment plan all affect what is appropriate.

Is There Downtime, and Does Treatment Hurt?

Downtime depends on the treatment. PICO laser and standard microneedling can cause redness or mild swelling that commonly settles within a day or two. HIFU may leave temporary swelling or tenderness. RF microneedling can cause redness and pinpoint marking for two to three days. CO2 laser stands apart, with around five to seven days of visible healing. Comfort varies between patients and treatment areas; where appropriate, numbing cream and other comfort measures are discussed before treatment.

Autumn Skin Treatment FAQs

Which autumn skin treatment is right for me?

The right treatment depends on whether your main concern is pigmentation, texture, scarring, laxity or general skin quality. Your clinician examines your skin, reviews your medical history and compares the appropriate options at consultation.

Can darker or Asian skin tones have laser treatment?

Some laser technologies can be suitable for darker and Asian skin tones, but device choice and settings matter because of the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. KIREI uses a genuine picosecond laser and assesses every patient before treatment.

Are autumn skin treatments available in Leeds and Beverley?

Laser, IPL, HIFU and RF microneedling are delivered from the Leeds clinic. Standard microneedling and selected regenerative treatments are available in Leeds and Beverley. Your consultation confirms the appropriate location and clinician.
